Buying a home is both exciting and scary. It’s a statement that you’re ready to settle down and plant roots in a particular area. It’s an investment (probably the biggest one you’ll ever make). It’s also a big responsibility to keep everything working properly and looking nice. But what if buying a home also gave you access to a key that unlocked thousands of other homes around the world?
That’s the idea behind the company 3RD HOME. It’s basically a real estate club for the wealthy. Here’s how it works – To become a member, you must own a second home worth at least $500K. It has to offer luxurious amenities and be in a desirable location. It’s not enough to fill out a form online and just check off boxes, though. A committee will actually go out to the home to see if it meets their standards.
Once someone passes the committee’s inspection, they are given that magical key. They’re granted access to 3RD HOME’s exclusive database of high-end real estate. Right now, that database consists of about 4,700 homes with a total worth of about $10 billion. The average home on 3RD HOME is worth $2.5 million. Not too shabby for a company that only started six years ago!
So how much does it all cost? Well, when each member joins they pay a one-time fee of $2,500. Then, each time they utilize one of the luxury homes, they pay a transaction fee that ranges from $395-$995. It may sound expensive to the average person, but take a look at where members get to vacation:

The only major downside of being a club member is having to choose which house you want to vacation in first. They are all gorgeous!
